Mike Derbyshire
Director, Bentleys Tasmania
Mike has 25 years’ experience in the audit field and specialises in providing audit and assurance services to a wide range of clients including corporate, government and not-for-profit entities.
Specialising also in the audit of self-managed superannuation funds, Mike has a particular focus on maximising the efficiency and quality of SMSF audit by making the best use of available technology.
Before joining Kaizen Business Services Group, one of the antecedent firms which merged to form Bentleys Tasmania on 1 July 2013, Mike was a director of Purcell Accounting Inc, a public practice in Cape Town, for six years. Prior to that, he worked as a manager in corporate audit at Ernst & Young and as financial controller for a large retail franchise chain. In a previous life Mike was a pharmacist, before the glamour of the accounting profession lured him away.
Mike has served on the boards of a number of community organisations and currently chairs the audit panels of three Tasmanian councils. Part of Mike’s role at Bentleys Tasmania is to act as mentor to the firm’s CA and CPA candidates.
