Mike has 20 years’ experience in the audit field and specialises in providing audit and assurance services to a wide range of clients including large proprietary companies, not-for-profit companies and incorporated associations. Specialising also in the audit of self-managed superannuation funds, Mike has a particular focus on maximising the efficiency and quality of SMSF audit by making the best use of available technology.
Before joining Kaizen Business Services Group, one of the antecedent firms which merged to form Bentleys Tasmania on 1 July 2013, Mike was a director of Purcell Accounting Inc, a public practice in Cape Town, for six years. Prior to that, he worked as a manager in corporate audit at Ernst & Young and as financial controller for a large retail franchise chain. In a previous life Mike was a pharmacist, before the glamour of the accounting profession lured him away.
Mike is a board member of Autism Tasmania and has previously served on the board of the Tasmania Committee, an organization committed to promoting Tasmania with the “Love This Place” campaign and Tasmanian of the Year Award. Part of Mike’s role at Bentleys Tasmania is to act as mentor to the firm’s CA and CPA candidates.
