Do you need assistance to turn your great ideas into commercial reality?
Would funding of up to $250,000 help you to get your innovation off the ground?

Commercialisation Australia is a new Australian Government initiative that has been designed to support entrepreneurs, innovative companies and researchers to convert their ideas into successful commercial realities.  The program, which is funded by the Australian Government to the tune of more than $196m,  takes a hands-on approach to help bring ideas to market through offering tailored assistance including:

Skills and Knowledge Support 

 is a new Australian Government initiative that has been designed to support entrepreneurs, innovative companies and researchers to convert their ideas into successful commercial realities.  The program, which is funded by the Australian Government to the tune of more than $196m,  takes a hands-on approach to help bring ideas to market through offering tailored assistance including:

• Grants of up to $50,000 are available to successful applicants to access specialist advice and services including market research and analysis, business planning, marketing consulting and IP (Intellectual Property) protection strategies.  These grants are aimed at assisting you to unlock the commercial potential of your great ideas.
• Grants of up to $200,000 over two years are on offer to companies to engage experienced executives for your venture, including Chief Executive Officers or other executives.  This assistance is designed to give small innovative companies like yours access to the management skills you need to commercialise a new product, process or service. 

Proof of Concept Support

• Proof of Concept support will provide grants from $50,000 to $250,000 to test the commercial viability of your business model, for example by funding prototype and plant expenditure.  Under this program, you will be assigned a Case Manager to assist you through the commercialisation process.

Early Stage Commercialisation Support

• Commercialisation Australia will provide repayable grants from $250,000 to $2m to fund activities that develop a new product, process or service to the stage where it can be taken to market.  Expenditure such as testing and documentation, product development and initiation of sales and marketing may be eligible for this funding and Case Managers will support you throughout the process.

 To help you further along the path to commercialisation, Volunteer Business Mentors will be matched to your needs.  Mentors have extensive experience in management and commercialisation and are well placed to offer insights into the commercialisation process.  They will provide you with a sounding board on which to test your ideas and will offer tailored advice on how best to bring your product, process or service to market.

How do I apply for Commercialisation Australia funding?

The program is highly competitive and funding is merit-based.  To apply, you should access the Customer Information Guide and complete the Pre-Application Form downloadable from the Commercialisation Australia website.   www.commercialisationaustralia.gov.au

These documents will help you to determine your eligibility and will give you a better understanding of how the initiative works.

Once your Pre-Application Form has been submitted, a representative of Commercialisation Australia will contact you to discuss the next phase of the application process.
