Bentleys boosts Executive Team

National accounting practice Bentleys is expanding its executive and senior teams in Queensland and Western Australia as business markets re-strengthen following the global financial crisis.

Queensland 

Bentleys Queensland has appointed Director Ben Cameron as the firm’s new Managing Director, succeeding Audit Director Robert Forbes who has held the position for the past seven years.

Mr Cameron said, “On a strategic level, Bentleys are preparing for market growth in the new financial year.”

“Five members of our team have been promoted, including four from the business services division, to cater for increasing market activity.” 

Peter Tran will become a Director of Business Services following 12 years with the company, bringing the Business Services division’s executive team to eight members.

This division will be further boosted by the addition of three Associate Directors – Lauren Welk, Tim Bridges and Tina Kiernan, who will drive growth in fields such as family business, small to medium enterprise, agribusiness and aged care. 

Stewart Douglas will become a Director of Bentleys’ Audit division following more than 12 years of audit and professional experience, including a recent appointment to the board of disability services provider Multicap.

“Bentleys is again seeing a surge in business activity and emerging market opportunities, particularly at the small to medium enterprise level” said Mr Cameron.

“By strategically strengthening its leadership team, Bentleys is in a position to best advise our clients as they seek future growth in this time of market resurgence.”


Western Australia

Bentleys Western Australia has appointed two new Associate Directors according to Managing Director Philip Rix.

“These promotions enable us to deliver this business philosophy.”

Chartered Accountant Peter Gilford has been promoted to Associate Director of Taxation & Business Advisory following six years with Bentleys, specialising in fields such as resources, mining and construction.

Richard Joughin has also been promoted to Associate Director of the Audit & Corporate Services division following nine years’ experience in the firms audit division working with both large and small companies as well as ASX listed companies specialising in the mining and resources industry.

BRISBANE APPOINTMENTS:
Ben Cameron – Managing Director Ben has been with Bentleys for almost 20 years and provides professional advice and services across a broad range of industries, including agribusiness, property, finance, manufacturing and professional services. Working with a mix of clients, such as corporate and family-based businesses, primary producers, ASX listed entities, wholesalers and manufacturers, Ben has an inherent understanding of business operations and strategy. Ben has close family ties in regional Queensland and has extensive connections and long-standing relationships with a range of rural businesses and colleagues. In the position as Bentleys’ Managing Director, Ben will be leading the firm’s future growth strategies.
Peter Tran – Director, Business Services (formerly Associate Director) Peter is a Chartered Accountant with more than 12 years experience in the accounting profession. He has been with Bentleys since 1998. Peter provides business and taxation advice to clients who operate in a diverse range of industries and professional areas. Client groups include health, manufacturing, retail and wholesale, primary production, construction, professionals and superannuation funds.	;
Stewart Douglas – Director, Audit (formerly Associate Director) Stewart has more than 12 years audit and professional experience, including several years of international experience in the UK and Singapore. Stewart assists clients of various sizes across a broad range of sectors and has expert technical knowledge across all facets of audit and assurance. Stewart blends technical expertise with a commercial perspective, allowing him to provide practical 'real world' business advice.
Lauren Welk - Associate Director, Business Services (formerly Manager)   Lauren has over ten years experience specialising in business advisory and tax planning services for small to medium businesses, family groups and industry operators. Services include cashflow budgeting, tax planning strategies and group restructures. Lauren has specialist expertise in the property and construction, hospitality, manufacturing, consulting and health and aged care industries.
Tim Bridges – Associate Director, Business Services (formerly Manager) Tim joined Bentleys in mid 2005 after beginning his career in Adelaide. He has significant expertise in business and corporate advisory. Tim works closely with clients from a diverse range of small to medium businesses, and has specialist knowledge and experience in the areas of research and development, due diligence, business valuations, and strategic planning.
Tina Kiernan - Associate Director, Business Services (formerly Manager) Tina is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant who has been working with Bentleys for over a decade. Tina has a significant base of clients in regional and rural areas and has experience with a range of operators including primary producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and rural enterprises. She has expertise in taxation and tax planning, business and entity structuring, GST, business sale and acquisitions, budgeting and cashflow modeling.

Peter Gilford - Associate Director, Taxation & Business Advisory (formerly the firm’s Manager) Peter joined Bentleys in 2004 and provides a range of taxation consultancy, business services and superannuation planning advice to clients, predominantly small to medium enterprises in the resources, mining, construction, legal and medical sectors.
Richard Joughin – Associate Director, Audit & Corporate Services (formerly the firms Manager) Richard has been with Bentleys for nine years and is a specialist working in the audit area, particularly public company audits operating in the mining and resources sector. He has provided significant audit and corporate services to a vast array of listed companies, large and small proprietary companies, charitable and sporting organisations, private schools and Managed Investment Schemes.
